M.C.Frank- No Vain Loss
5/5 stars!
A heroic take on love and hope.
"You’d have us executed just like that, your own soldiers, without even asking why we did what we did?"
A soldier is summoned to the North Pole, days before the year changes, told to fix the great Clock for a celebration. He has no idea what to do.
A girl, hunted for the crime of being born, almost dies out on the ice. She is rescued by the last polar bear left alive. A library waits for them both, a library built over a span of a hundred years, forgotten in the basement of an ice shack.
The world hasn't known hunger or sickness in hundreds of years. It has also forgotten love and beauty. The year is 2525. Inspired by the short stories of Ray Bradbury, this futuristic novel is set in a world where Christmas -among other things- is obsolete and a Clock is what keeps the fragile balance of peace.
Written in three installments, this is the breathtaking and sensual story of how two unlikely people change the world, and each other, one book at a time.
In No Vain Loss, the third installment, war is about to erupt. Who will be left standing when the stars begin to fade?
Immerse yourself into the icy cold world of this scorching hot new novel.

I love being thrown right into the action where the last book, No Plain Rebel left off. This fast-paced read kept me on my toes and left me wanting more.
Felix and Astra's relationship doesn't only grow but is cherished by readers and I found myself depending on the characters minds to really imagine myself within the book. Which is defiantly not hard to experience while reading this series.
“It’s all you. You made my heart beat,”
There was so much detail and every plot twist made the book that much better. I thoroughly enjoyed how the book was organized and how well M.C. Frank kept the audience guessing and kept our minds devoured with every chapter.
Right from the beginning, the story keeps the reader wanting more yet satisfied after every book. I want to jump into M.C.Frank's world where she grasps her writing because it is beyond this world. I need to read more books by this author as I have fallen in love with not only this series but also her writing style, perception and love for a connection between the reader and the characters within the story.
"One weakness is enough to conquer you,"
I loved how the book flowed and was a built up from the other books where No Vain Loss gave the reader everything we were left wondering. I wasn't left wondering but I was left wanting more and wanting this book to have four more add-ons as I didn't want it to end. I became attached to not only the characters but also their world and different perspectives that came to be a very realistic connection between the reader and the overall experience.
Say hello to my new favourite series!
